OVAL GEAR METER

Positive Displacement flow meters are generally regarded as one of the most cost effective options for liquid flow measurement, delivering the most accurate results for your money. Oval gear flow meters are traditional, mechanical, positive displacement flow meter, first invented more than 50 years ago and now it is widely used for flow metering applications.The measuring element consists of two high precision toothed oval gears, which are driven by the  ow of the medium and mesh with each other. The number of rotations is a measure of the amount of fluid that has passed through the meter. The rotations are detected by a sensor element.

The oval gear flow meter is designed primarily for use with high viscosity fluids,which has led to applications such as the flow metering of oils,syrups and fuels.It measures the flow by employing a geared rotor to pass known volumes of a fluid through a housing.Basically, the measurement accuracy increases with increase in viscosity of the media.

    • No straight pipe runs required,so flow meters can be installed in restricted areas


       It also has certain limitations.This type of flow meter is not suitable for steam or multi phase liquids.It is not recommended for low viscosity fluids, including water-like fluids because of an increase in build   slippage.Bubbles present in fluids may adversely affect the accuracy.
